Thing #18 Online Productivity
I have been using and refering co-workers and friends to Zoho. This is my favorite web 2.0 technology. I uploaded my Tracking Log to zoho, so I could update it from anywhere. This is also a great one to let students know about because they seldom have external storage devices for their homework. My favorite part is that you can work collabortively (by invitation).
Thing #17 Sandbox
More wikis...Sandbox is a great example for familiarizing yourself with wikis and using them. Pretty easy.
Thing #16 Wikis
Wiki=easy to use web page that let you collaborate online and share information.
The library creates wikis to gain input from the community and bring the library to the user. HCPL may consider creating a wiki as an online advisory group where patrons can add content about what services, programs and information they want to see in the library. Internally, we can use them for booktalking and booklists, share computer problems and resolutions, and how about the staff's ezine page.

Thing #15 Library 2.0
How will HCPL fare in its Library 2.0 role? Library 2.0 uses Web 2.0 tools to make it more user-centric. Furthermore, Library 2.0 does not limit access to the web. Can HCPL be the place where you can create mashups? I think it can; the real question is whether the library has reliable enough connectivity to support such functions. We are lucky to have a director that recognizes the importance of Web 2.0. Our director has planted her foot firmly on the side of allowing social networking in the library. Now we need to move toward incorporating 2.0 technology within HCPL's website (will it be named the ebranch). Librarians need to become more versed in Web 2.0 in order to use it to enchance the library's functionality. We need to be in communication and work cooperatively with all levels to establish a path for HCPL's use of Web 2.0. We cannot be left on a dusty shelf. We must embrace this technology and make the library better with it and for the users.

#14 Technorati
Technorati is a great sight for seeing whats happening in the wide world of blogs. I really like that they focus on blogs specifically. Such devotion leads to a better product. The social aspect of the site lends itself to playing around, while the search and advanced search are quite practical. I searched for sustainable living blogs. At first I used the tag "green," then by viewing other tags used landed upon "sustainable." I really like the authority count too. Very helpful in determining if I should take the time to look at the site.

#13 Del.icio.us
Del.icio.us, in simple terms is an online "Favorites" site that is kicked up a notch. Finally, I get it. When I first visited Del.icio.us a few months ago, I really didn't buy into the social aspect of using other people's tags. Why do I care what websites others are using. I can now see that the popularity can verify the sites to a degree. What I really want to do is transform the Aberdeen Branch's favorite links on the reference computers into a del.icio.us account. Aha! This Web 2.0 tool can make life online more efficient and yes fun.
